My Mythic Hythlodayin Drive To Work.
CrunchyWeta

Asphalt steers me from Mamaku to Reporoa
 1
Across this country's naked heart
 2
Pulse exposed, beaten by Maui's brothers
 3
Tendered with Aroha.
 4

Mamaku mountainettes, an ancient valley of kings
 5
Mysterious geyser tombs, or mudpools, or mini-volcanoes
 6
Calling down the frosts, fogs and clouds
 7
The old one's mantle of mana.
 8

And you, Ngongotaha, Es tu kia kaha
 9
Proud amongst your peoples
 10
Head in the clouds
 11
On days you cry for Hinemoa.
 12

Weaving through a fogbound quilt
 13
Rolling hills stitched with naked birch
 14
A patchwork swandri of exotic pines
 15
Ruffling Rainbow Mountain's disgorged shoulder.
 16

The fiery breath of rivers rises through the frosty fresh
 17
Kerosesne Creek heralding Waiotapu
 18
Her jewels scattered, spilled across the valley
 19
Her irridescent palette, geochemical emotions erupting.
 20

Beyond a battalion of beheaded mountain sentinels
 21
Reporoa's plains unfurl from purple fog
 22
A series of bucolic winter allegories
 23
From those anachronistic Christmas cards.
 24

I expect sun-sized smiley faces
 25
To cascade over the hillside surrounds
 26
Congratulations for winning solitaire
 27
Finding my mythic eutopos outopos.
