a farewell to winter

my body seems better
in the cold:
skin tighter, breasts that seem
better, whiter.
better for others, who peek
beneath, who peak eventually
into me. it seems smaller,
whiter, ready for things
that will make me
tighter, gripping things
indoors in the dark. it is
better in the winter. goodbye
for an hour. goodbye and good day
and hello to some flower.

the snow has almost melted.
i will become tighter with the onset of spring.
