Born To Die
Leo24

Born to Die,
 1
A glimmer of light
 2
A glimpse of life,
 3
A gasp of air,
 4

Fists clench,
 5
Teeth grit,
 6
Grasp those closest,
 7
Lips sealed,
 8
Last breath held,
 9

Embraces weaken,
 10
People slip away,
 11
Tide and time against you,
 12
Can’t breathe,
 13
Warmth fades and dies,
 14
Cold….so cold,
 15
Going deeper,
 16
Kicks weaken and die,
 17
No need to fight anymore,
 18
Light fading,
 19

No longer afraid,
 20
As hope leaves so does fear,
 21
Your only losing what you don’t want,
 22
Lips part,
 23
As life escapes,
 24
A smile?
 25
Maybe.
 26

The light flickers and fails,
 27
Lifes air is sucked from within,
 28
Darkness consumes,
 29
Digests,
 30
Devours,
 31
Sleep now,
 32

Was it worth it?
 33
The pain? The struggle?
 34
Yes it was,
 35

Whilst embattled things were missed,
 36
The grips returned,
 37
The smiles granted,
 38
Hope given.
 39

Thankyou

Good grief - the title says it all.  Maybe ditch the big subjects - life, death, washing up - and go for something that doesn't lend itsself quite so easily to the easy description.
