Indignity
x2jocelyn2x

Every so often
 1
you return
 2
to this place I call Hell.
 3

Silence lingers between us,
 4
Awkwardness formed
 5
because of your
 6
Selfishness.
 7

We've had a shameful history.
 8
Exciting, Steamy,
 9
then Broken.
 10

The truth lies within
 11
only our memory
 12
and the consience lurking
 13
upon my shoulder
 14

Our act was made up
 15
of three components:
 16
you, me
 17
and
 18
Indignity.
 19

Where can I seek forgiveness
 20
for letting you down?
 21
I never meant what I said
 22
I was
 23
Under the influence.
 24
Oblivious to what
 25
was happening:
 26
you were slipping through my fingers
 27

and then I let go.

It's disappointing when you only get one comment on your favorite poem :(

There are thousands of poems out there that say the exact same thing in different words, so really you are beating a dead horse, but, that being said, this is among the best written poems on the subject that I have ever read.
