Was I barking up the wrong tree,	1
Was I a cat in a strange garret?	2
Tell me, was I reading between the lines	3
Things you didn't impart?	4

Did I keep the ball rolling	5
Because of a slip of your tongue	6
That was music to my ears?	7

Didn't I give you elbow room,	8
To throw cold water all over me	9
And keep me at arm's length?	10

Am I hanging by a thread,	11
Do I stand a ghost of a chance	12
Or am I crying over spilt milk?	13

Am I a moment that arrived too soon,	14
Are you washing your hands of me,	15
Have I finally hit the nail on the head?	16

I like this. It's quite clever esp. verse 2. Not sure about the title, though. I reckon a mixed cliche would be more apt. ( e.g. Keeping the Ghost rolling ) :)

I’ve seen this treatment of idioms before, but I don’t remember if I enjoyed it as much.

I like the ending, and I like the use of caps.
