Whose sick and tired of the early start to and gross over commercialisation of Christmas  larrylark  30 Nov 06 3:13AM Thread Closed

Earlier every year, advertising on TV from October, Kids don't believe in Father Christmas any moe when its perfectly clear to anyone with half a brain that he's alive and well and living in Greenland. One kid i work with said he's not getting any presents but a cheque for 500 quid to spend in the so called January sales.

haha very dry...

I believed in santa until I was about 10. Then my brother told me what I was gettin for christmas- It was a nintendo or somethin...he told me cause he wanted to play it and couldn't wait. I was so disapointed!! But come christmas day I acted along with it, cause I could see my mum was so happy she got me what I really wanted at the time...

Christmas hasn't been the same since...but I got a nephew and neice now who go absolutely crazy on christmas day so that kinda makes up for it.

I would never tell someone there was no santa- even if they were like 30 and still gettin presents from their parents...Mind you, theres always someone in every classroom who'll have awful parents who will tell their kid theres no santa, and ruin it for the good uns.....crafty devils parents are though, and they'll think of something to postpone the terrible truth!

I was sick of it in October!  I won't shop in stores that start too early.  You can't get through Halloween without Christmas and Thanksgiving being mixed in.

As for believing, I've spent many a Christmas Eve staying up until midnight, waiting for those precious 5 minutes when animals can talk!  My cat tells me many secrets.

I'm afraid I've been poisoned by the early Christmas madness this year.  Over the last 2 years I refused to get into it before December but then realized that all the toys were gone by the time I shopped for them.  I didn't want the kids to be disappointed, so I started weeks ago.
It is sickening seeing the decorations up right after halloween.
And, the flick Christmas with the Kranks is fucking brutal.
What a complete deterioration of the family holiday I remember as a kid.
Kids rule the roost these days, it's disgusting.

shopping early is only sensible: miss the crowds, get the discounts, spread the payments over months rather than a single month and starve for three. you don't need tinsel and marketing and santa's little helpers welcoming you at the store doors in october though. i ignore all that glitters till mid-december when i finally open my mince-pies.

did you read ned jen? if you didn't would you?
i posted it after i saw another poem posted for you
it reminded me i had meant to post ned for you to read
there's another ned one but it'll have to wait

betty,
no i didn't read it, I didn't see it or know it was something I should read.  I'll go find it now though.   Thank you!
I'm surprised I even stumbled upon trochee's poem.
It seems I have found some poetic advocates these days...

I've just spotted Santa doing a dry run across the sky behind our house. Is this some kind of recored or was it a UFO or weird spy plane? All genuine sightings will be treated in strict confidentiality.
