mike, where did your poems go? put them back up.

it's too much, you know. homophobes and roundheads. it's not really a poetry for them, and they own the site.

I don't think we're homophobes at all, just sometimes want to see something happier and less sexual.  Nothing wrong with sex but sometimes another venue is a relief.

no, all the "bisexual bauer" and "don't write your gay in your poems" and "you should die...". i mean, this is the kind of thing people like me live with. and, i can see the honestly confused ones, and the one's who don't read modern, and the ones who are sensitive not feeling comfortable with my writing. but, this is going beyond that, and my poems just don't feel that comfortable around rough-trade. besides, "naked" and "heart like a boy" weren't pornish at all. neither was "you come into the room", and look at the responses to that one "keep your...", and "you're so gay"...

of course, they might just want a date.

you got comments like that on your poems? that's just plain out of order. they obviously know it's getting to you mike. if you can, ignore it. if not, apparently the moderators are back, they'll delete anything like that if you link to it or email them about it.

re: i'm a genius  mikebauer  30 Jan 07 6:20PM Post Reply

they're good about deleting. but the proliferation makes it seem like they're the only people reading. some one or two unknown's even followed me over to writerscafe. what a scene... real attack, but, oddly, very primitive comments on my poem ( you come into the room)... genuine miscomprehension, and it made the unknown anonymous poster look very foolish. i think it's something like a good-old-boy thing, where they do do what they do, but they'll kill you if you tell anyone about it. "dying from shame" or something. very angle-saxon.

yee-haw.

funny how when an unknown is critical of you, mike, you claim that all unknowns are the same and you don't take a word of theirs seriously, but if one seems to be defending you, you treat them decently.

but that's not really out of character, now is it?

i think you just rubbed them the way they don't like, mike.
which isn't your fault, of course, because they don't have to read anything
you post; be it here on the message board, or your poems, or your comments.
i think it's commendable, how much patience you've had to this point.
i also think it's very commendable that you've tried to stimulate some real
discussion on what poetry is, and where it comes from, and why.
these are exceptional topics that you've brought up. unfortunately you've not been well received by these ignorant people.
for myself, i admire your insight, and encourage you to continue just "being yourself".
for whatever it's worth (i am unknown, after all...).

thanks, that's really nice of you to say.
