Lord’s abusion is mine, o the wild preacher cried
to those whose salvation man’s church it denied
For such is religion, man’s laws sought to enforce
God’s gateways merge close, as though Hell in remorse.

For an eye of a needle, is our abearance of thought
Where all greed’s excesses are ground them to naught
For there man cries death to his own faith’s destiny
When Apollyon and abnegation, is life’s last pit, we see.

I've often done that in the past.  Lately this religion-illness seems to grip many on the board.
I am no doctor, but I can point the way to a cure.

Huh?

Huh?  I'm intimidated by the thought of being murdered by some zealot, only.

>are these questions you will answer?

You seem to be trolling, without bait, without evident purpose, for some sort of flying fish
(it's wayyy overhead).

Good luck with that.

Poetry and irony is everywhere.
Witness the works of the great Jack Chick, fundamentalist comic artist,
master communicator.

no no no.
i just think you are an excellent writer, and am completely intrigued by the aspect of a repartee on POETRY between mike and yourself.
i'm also sick to death of all this bible crap.
surely your personal insight could be put to what i (and doubtless, many others)
believe are worthier debates for a POETRY forum???

Take my hand said the devil, and desire’s presence I sway
to those who would write, poetic thoughts their own way

For the mind that would harbour, and moderation excursed
is the death knell to poetry and all freedoms rehearsed

For excubitoria’s watch through stilled church of the night
in all its long sessions of putting an other’s word right

For the God man has chosen, has no compulsion to see
that open form writing is just another poetic repartee.

Give me that sharpened graver of wit
that I with my accoutrements so fit.
A word that would from mine own mind survive
and test times indulgence, with all those greater words alive.

It is said that the Bible has an answer for any query
that man’s ever inquisitive mood should enquire
And truly seems to exploit o the theory
true hell’s damnation is ringed in great fire.

But let us look at the synopsis of merit
that man in his judgement; concerned
Gives the habit of truth inaugurate
to all those great wisdoms it learned.

And I?  Oh surely...that form of hell was recently abolished by the infallable late pope;
for the Catholics, at least:

Hell is the State of Those who Reject God

At the General Audience of Wednesday, 28 July 1999, the Holy Father reflected on hell as the definitive rejection of God. In his catechesis, the Pope said that care should be taken to interpret correctly the images of hell in Sacred Scripture, and explained that "hell is the ultimate consequence of sin itself... Rather than a place, hell indicates the state of those who freely and definitively separate themselves from God, the source of all life and joy".

Poets are right to be sick as hell of all this religious crap.
However here  in these specialized threads we dialog with believers
with hope to save some lives from wastage, twaddling over whose turkey is to be cooked, and whether the whole bird, or any part of the bird should be eaten, including the pope's nose.
