but then an argument could be made that God was against heterosexual sex ( please read garden of eden story! )

don't work. it's this mirror-trick about "free will" -- making god like dad, and telling the little kids that if they love their father they will clean up their room. it's so obviously a cull from some more sophisticated religion -- where the notion of free will is limited to the real and practical -- like, "dad" and "god" are never confused with each other. our bible tradition is based on knowledge borrowed when the people of the book were slaves looking through the windows at the master's fancy ball, and talking about it like it was dinner at the tent: "wear clothes, don't spill your wine".

It's interesting to me that the Bible never says if Adam and Eve had sex before eating from The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.  They didn't know anything was evil, they were innocent, like children playing.  The Bible says that God saw that it was VERY GOOD.

I would bet they did have sex, great sex, without any thought of evil or mischief or pornography.  They were without the idea of good or evil until they ate the fruit and learned that some things are 'evil."

Hey scooby, good to see you back.

who hear thinks the bible is only a set of rules intended for "living a good life" and that the modern church is corrupt and misleading.

i think the only reason the bible condems homosexuality is because in that time it was deemed "unormal"..........and now that general consenses of homo's being "bad" has carried into modern racism.

bla,..........why cant we all just be happy!!! u know what wuld suck, being a black gay jew,...........you know how many bible thumpers and skin head wuld be after you??

What does adam and eve having sex before they ate the apple have to do with anything? Is it important? If so, why?

This discussion is...going crazy. Of course, why should I expect anything else here on PC?

Julia, you specifically refer to the bible in your thread title so forgive me as I will stray slightly, but hopefully remain on topic in a broad sense.

Without offering a personal view, could it not be said that the process of continuation, that is of species continuation, does in itself prohibit homosexuality? the question of morality is subjective, propagation of a species - the human race (in a natural sense, artificial insemination being exluded) – requires a heterosexual relationship.

julia, it seems to me they just want the sex buzz once in awhile and they just say stuff. they're not really replying, just doing some sort of crackerbarrel speak-up -- it's more about lack of control than controlling the discussion. probably they don't even remember saying the thing a moment after they said it. naturally, they'll say, but isn't gay about sex? and then the discussion gets carried over there, cause they weren't paying attention to the posts.

mostly, though, the concepts "bible" and "homosexuality" aren't alike enough to make an easy debate. "bible and sears roebuck catalog" might be more to the point... you can just point to things and contrast, rather than having to compare all the time like you do with "sex and book": books don't have sex... which may seem flip, but the one's about judgement and the other's about love. but, as i suggested, judgement is only an aesthetic decision, "this looks like this", and not a condemnation: the condemnation is up to the individual.

ex post, then what is the point of there being homosexuals? some of us think that they're necessary to the community of man, that we have freedom of thought and perhaps magical powers to heal and make people go ha-ha. even the great straights always have a little homo around that showed them the clues and tricks.

am i revisionist yet? but, what is "continuity", that some terminal event isn't schedualed for the end of time to take humanity out all together. the bible is a pop book, and not a deep-thought tract. it wasn't meant to be.
