Definitions will spawn in a new window (Wordnet):

You fell for a crabapple tree in the city.
Not a sheltered evergreen in the forest,
Or a tattered elm swaying alone on a country road.
The fruit was bitter but its flowers were bright.
So you climbed farther into its grip
To combine secrets.
And only when you fell like a ripe apple from its arms,
Did the city stop to see.
